At Stokes, we realise that Clients may often wish to change their name or the names of their children.
With regard to adults, we can arrange for your name to be changed very swiftly and you will usually only need one appointment.
The law relating to the change of a child’s name is more complicated. The Courts consider the change of a child’s name to be a matter of great importance. Usually, the agreement of both parents is required. In most cases, it will be necessary to arrange for a record of the change of name to be registered at the High Court.
In some cases, it will be necessary to apply to the Court for an Order granting you permission to change your child’s name.
We can advise you fully should you wish to change your own name or your child’s name.
